Congratulations to Origin’s Junior Athlete Zander Rhodes!
Congratulations to Origin’s 13 year-old Junior Athlete Zander Rhodes on placing 5th in the 2016 USA Fencing National Championships. Zander finishes the 2015-2016 season ranked 8th overall in the U.S. in her age group.
Zander has been training with Origin for 2 years and fencing since the age of 4.
2016 was a banner year for Zander, as she also competed in her first international event, the Marathon Fleuret in Paris, the largest international youth fencing tournament. Zander, who was 12 at the time, placed 9th out of 186 fencers from around the world in the Youth 14 (14 years old) fencing event, and received a top 8 medal for the overall event.
When asked why she enjoys fencing, Zander pointed out its varied benefits, “I like that you have to think fast, meet new people from all around the world and learn important skills.”
Zander currently fences with V Fencing Club.
In her free time, Zander also enjoys playing the cello, art and hanging out with her friends.
Zander’s dedication to her sport and her health also shines through in her training at Origin, “Training at Origin helps me with my health, staying active and helps me to become a better fencer.”
