13-year old fencer Samuel Fu (left) applied focus, skill and strength to fence his way to gold at the regional 2018 Thrust Fall ROC Fencing Tournament in Suffern, NY December 8-9, 2018.

Fu blasted past 16 other competitors from Connecticut, Pennsylvania and New York to claim the top spot in the Cadet Men’s Foil event. Fu’s victory was well-fought with each of his wins having at least a 6 point margin of victory over his competitors.

Fu has been training at Origin for about a month. In that short time, he has made strength and conditioning gains that have translated to the fencing strip. According to Fu’s trainer Cisco, “Sam has increased his fencing power through his training at Origin. Additionally, he brings a laser-like focus and intensity to his bouts and training that are years beyond his age. He shows a passion for his training and his craft that is a hallmark of success. I’m excited to build upon this focus and further increase his strength and conditioning to help make him an even greater force on the fencing strip.”
